FluxBuds is built on the Leder-Belke model of aesthetic processing and decades of perception research — specifically the discovery that the brain processes self-voice and other-voice through fundamentally different neural pathways.

In people who stutter, the Auditory Self-Speech Feedback Loop is disrupted: the brain incorrectly monitors its own voice production, creating interference in the STG (Superior Temporal Gyrus). This interference triggers blocking and repetition.

FluxBuds activates an ego-dystonic voice conversion: your voice is transformed in real time to be perceived as "other." The brain then routes processing through the Other-Speech Pathway — bypassing the impaired self-monitoring circuit entirely. Motor execution is freed.

What is the purpose of the study?

The study aims to identify the most effective, persistent, and sensorially pleasant ways to enhance speech fluency. Therefore, the study is concerned with the overall contribution to reduce stuttering over short and longer periods of time as well.

What is the scientific background of our study?

The research group at PsyAIHance has successfully identified a brain mechanism that offers a bypass route around the neural impairments commonly associated with stuttering. Leveraging the cutting-edge capabilities of machine learning, the team has engineered sophisticated audio algorithms capable of activating this brain mechanism. Remarkably, this intervention facilitates an immediate improvement of speech fluency, achieved through a subtle auditory modification, in a very reliable and efficient manner.

Who is eligible?

We are specifically seeking individuals between the ages of 8 and 45 with a moderate to severe stutter, preferably living in Germany.

What benefit do I gain from participating in the study?

As a participant, you will benefit from being among the first to experience FluxBuds technology firsthand. Additionally, you will have the privileged option to receive the final product as a beta tester.

Where does the study take place?

The study is conducted either in the Psychology Lab of the University of Bamberg. It is also possible to come to your location with our Mobile Lab.

How will I know if I qualifiy to participate?

After receiving your request, our team will review your information and reach out to you within 1-2 working days. We’ll discuss conjointly your eligibility and potential involvement in either our current or upcoming studies.
